Worksite: National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC). NHOTIC is located 5
miles east of Baker City, Oregon, on Highway 86. NHOTIC is administered through the
Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office. Work may be performed inside the Center,
outdoors on the Center grounds, or an off-site location (i.e., Baker City).
Purpose: Assist with NHOTIC events through set up and teardown of displays, exhibits,
tents, and other props.
Timeframe: One to three hour commitment for either set up or teardown of equipment for
special events.
Number of Volunteers Needed: No Limit
Specific Duties: Pack materials, lift and carry boxes, assemble tents and displays, load and
unload wagons, move and arrange chairs, benches, and tables.
Qualifications/Skills: Ability to follow directions. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Training: Event coordinator will provide direct oversight and direction. A safety briefing will
be provided.
Equipment: Hand trucks, dollies, handtools and packing material will be provided by NHOTIC
as needed.
