Opportunity
Worksite:  National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC). NHOTIC is located 5
miles east of Baker City, Oregon, on Highway 86. NHOTIC is administered through the
Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office.

Purpose: Assist NHOTIC exhibit specialist with maintenance of exhibits and stored artifacts.

Timeframe: Schedule to be established with volunteer based on availability.

Number of Volunteers Needed: No Limit

Specific Duties: Clean and maintain exhibits and artifacts per instructions provided by
Exhibits Specialist.

Qualifications/Skills: Ability to follow directions. Knowledge of curatorial techniques and
materials.

Training: BLM Exhibit Specialist will provide specific direction in handling, cleaning and
maintenance of artifacts and exhibits. The Volunteer will not work independently until
certified by the Exhibit Specialist. Other training will include Center orientation; Volunteer
Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities; and Volunteer Safety.

Equipment: Brushes, cloths, and other cleaning/preservation materials will be provided by
the Exhibit Specialist.
