Opportunity
Worksite:  National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC). NHOTIC is located 5
miles east of Baker City, Oregon, on Highway 86. NHOTIC is administered through the
Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office. Work may be performed indoors or outside.

Purpose: Assist BLM Maintenance crew with facility and/or grounds maintenance.

Timeframe: Schedule to be established with supervisor.

Number of Volunteers Needed: No Limit

Specific Duties: Perform facility and/or grounds maintenance and odd-jobs at the direction of
the maintenance leader to ensure visitor safety and overall visitor satisfaction.

Qualifications/Skills: Ability to follow directions. Skill in the use of hand tools. Previous
maintenance experience. Background check is required if working alone in facilities.

Training: BLM Maintenance Supervisor will provide specific project direction. Safety
briefings will be provided, along with appropriate training and certification on the use of
tools/equipment necessary in the performance of the job. The Volunteer will not work
independently until certified by the Maintenance Supervisor. Other training will include
Center orientation; Volunteer Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities; and Volunteer Safety.

Equipment: Tools and equipment will be provided by NHOTIC.
