Opportunity
Worksite:  Leo Adler Theater, National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC).
NHOTIC is located 5 miles east of Baker City, Oregon, on Highway 86. NHOTIC is
administered through the Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office.

Purpose: Provide visitors to the Center with an educational program relating to the history or
influence of the Oregon Trail, regional mining history, local Native American history, GLO or
BLM history, history of early explorers, trappers and traders, and history of natural
resources.

Timeframe: A schedule will be developed for each volunteer based on their availability and
scheduled events at NHOTIC. The ability to work weekends is desirable.

Number of Volunteers Needed: No Limit

Specific Duties: Develop and present an historical lecture, power point, or slide presentation
based on a Center theme, or utilize an existing program from the NHOTIC library. The desire
to learn, historical accuracy and the ability to answer questions are paramount.

Qualifications/Skills: Ability to speak in front of a large audience. Ability to accurately answer
historical questions related to the presentation. Good communication skills.

Training: Script and presentation must be approved and reviewed by staff before first
presentation. Demonstrated ability to perform and answer questions required prior to
performance.

Equipment: NHOTIC resource library is available for use while researching/developing
scripts. Audio-visual equipment is provided in the various venues to be used.
