Opportunity
Worksite:  National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC). NHOTIC is located 5
miles east of Baker City, Oregon, on Highway 86. NHOTIC is administered through the
Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office.

Purpose: To oversee care of period costumes used for interpretation at the National Historic
Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.

Timeframe: Schedule to be established with supervisor.

Number of Volunteers Needed: No Limit

Specific Duties: Maintain inventory of period costumes. Check items out. Inspect returned
items. Arrange for cleaning and needed repairs. Keep theater dressing room in order.

Qualifications/Skills: Ability to care for and track fragile garments. Knowledge of period
clothing helpful, but not required. Sewing experience helpful, but not required. Volunteer
may coordinate repairs by qualified seamstress.
Training: NHOTIC will provide Center orientation; Volunteer Conduct, Rights and
Responsibilities; and Volunteer Safety.  Interpretive specialists will be available to provide
guidance/assistance as needed.

Equipment: Sewing equipment is available at NHOTIC or may be provided by the Volunteer.
